I attended the Google Teacher Academy. Google puts this on. There is an application process, those selected have the opportunity to attend an all day training with Google. This post explains more about my experience. http://teachingtomorrow.wordpress.com/2008/06/27/even-more/
I post periodically about new Google Teacher Academies. So check back.

I think this is an awesome Idea. When I begin teaching, I would like to be able to keep track of things on my computer rather than on paper for fear of forgetting my grade book. I am, however, not a fan of tedious data entry and I know that I will probably hate it even more once I have to keep track of a grade book. I think This is a fantastic way to make data entry and changes in the entries much easier. Thanks for posting about it.

I am a junior in college looking to be an elementary school teacher, and am currently taking an educational technology course. Before taking the class, I was unaware of how much technology should be incorporated into the classroom. You state that you have repeatedly heard that teachers don’t have the time to fit in a lesson on technology. I question if this is because teachers do not have the necessary skills to teach the technology, or perhaps they do not have the technology available. Although I am still enrolled in the class, I get a bit nervous when thinking about how I am going to incorporate technology in the classroom, and make it effective. I do agree with you that technology should be incorporated into everything, just as it is in the real world, especially because that's what our younger generation knows-technology. You mention that we wouldn't have expected 50 years ago from now. One topic my teacher raised was having a paperless classroom and asked our opinions about it. It is interesting that there is the possibility 5, 10, 50 years from now that's all students will know. Thank you for having an understanding of why technology is important, I have often read blogs where teachers complain about how there is no reason to update to higher technology and teaching with it is mostly useless. Your blog was a refreshing read :)
